The average lifespan of a well pump is 15 - 25 years on a properly maintained system.
Most often you will notice a change in your water pressure or quality of water. Abnormal noises such as rapid clicking or humming coming from the pump controls or pressure tank is another indication there might be a problem. If you are unsure, please call to set up an appointment and we will be happy to inspect your well system for you.
No. The well should only be chlorinated if it has been opened for service or water test results are positive for coliform bacteria. Unnecessarily adding chemicals to your water or doing so improperly can have adverse effects on your well pump equipment and water quality.
We recommend testing your well water annually for coliform bacteria and E.coli. If you have never had your water tested before a nitrate and arsenic test is also recommended. More comprehensive testing is available upon request.
Unlike a conventional well pump system that has a on/off pressure switch with a 20psi differential, a "constant pressure" or VFD(variable frequency drive) system is controlled with a pressure transducer that is installed in your plumbing system. The pressure transducer will detect any change in water pressure in your home and relay that information to the well pump controller which then will supply power to the well pump to keep up with your water usage demand. The water pressure in your home will more like city water pressure. These systems are also perfect for irrigation where high demand and consistent pressure is required.
Iron and manganese are metals the occur naturally in soils, rocks, and minerals. When they come in contact with the groundwater aquafer, the slowly dissolve into the water. Iron and manganese are essential nutrients and health risks are often insignificant. However, these minerals can give the water a metallic taste and cause havoc on your plumbing system and fixtures. These minerals can be removed with proper water conditioning equipment. If you are experiencing these problems and would like to have cleaner, better tasting water, please call to set up an appointment.
